Porcelain Altar

My friend Cindy and I ducked the pouring rain for a brew at the Deschutes Brewery in Portland's Pearl District on Saturday last. In her words, the place had been "pearlized" which means spiffed up and faux arty for the gallery strollers and loft living souls in Portland's "place to be". I found the place pretty depressing as the decorators were trying too hard and missed the mark. However, the place was packed and a line formed at the door shortly after we arrived, so whatever I think of it, it is successful.

We each finished off a fantastic double hopped ale and I headed to the "head" to return what I drank. The "head" turned out be an "out-of-this-world" piece of art. I can honestly say I've never seen such a massive urinal! I felt pretty damn important when sidled up to this exquisite structure. A brewery worker said it came from a Chicago church (I think I got the right).

I recon I just might go back to the Deschutes just to enjoy another hopped up ale and this white porcelain alter.
