Here's a classic landscape photo I made on the drive back to Portland from central Oregon last weekend.
I spent the morning I took this picture trying to find my way through housing developments outside Redmond to get to my old stomping grounds along the Deschutes River. I was desperate to go bouldering (rock climbing), but was soundly shutdown my gated private property. It seems a lot has changed in the 15 years since I lived in a tent and climbed by the river before breakfast.
On my way back to Portland I was struck by how snowy Mt. Hood loomed over the warm springtime desert. I stopped several times to try different setups and even wound up wading knee deep in muck through a "meadow" to get some shots. This shot was made from a rise along the highway while still on the Indian Reservation. I dig that lenticular cloud laying over the summit. And yes, as the cloud portends, it did rain in northern Oregon that night.

In telling the story above I flashed back to the easy (and broke) time I spent in central Oregon. Here's some photos of me and my buddies having an after-dinner session around 1993.
Me dragging my butt. Looks my right elbow was giving me trouble.
